Hey everyone, My names Zoe and stompie is a baby hermanns tortoise who is about a year old.
I got him only a few months ago in April, I did loads of research to make everything perfect for him. He seemed very happy in his new home and I fell in love with him straight away.
In the last week he stopped drinking, his eyes started to look dull and he was moving around less and less. In the last 4 days he's stopped eating all together. His energy levels had gone down so low he couldn't even lift his head in the bath anymore.
I rushed him to the vet where he's currently on a course of intensive rehydration and observation. His Blood results come back on Monday (18th). Then we should know more about what's going on.
I'll keep you all posted with his progress.
Please could any one help!
Stompies vet bills are currently at £150+ before any treatment. Any small paypal donation to ; Blaze_uk@hotmail.co.uk would be very very much apppericated.
Wiltshire Animal Rescue and Sanctuary confidently confirms that this is a genuine appeal and the owner desperately needs help to save little Stompie. He was imported and sold by a dealer disguised as a breeder and it is currently unknown what is wrong with poor Stompie, the bloodtests and stay at the vets is already very quickly draining his owners bank, this is without the actual treatment for what is wrong with him. Any donations towards Stompie's vet costs would be very gratefully received by Zoe. I will post regular updates on how the little guy is doing.
Please note that although this is not a WARAS animal, he is still an animal who is very much in need of help.

Angel’s Story.
Angel was one of 8 four week old puppies that had been handed into rescue as the owner could not cope.
They were small and undernourished pups and for quite a while it was touch and go as to whether they would all make it. But with much care and commitment from a dedicated foster carer they all pulled through.
All but one have now gone on to responsible new homes. On a check up at the vets it was discovered that Angel had quite a severe heart murmer and so Debbie, UK Bullmastiff rescue co-ordinator decided that she would foster Angel and explore the options available for this little girl.
Angel was referred to a specialist cardiology vets and was seen on the 17th April.
Angel has a diagnosis ..she has patent ductus arteriosus (pda)
this basically means that a a tube in her heart that should have closed soon after her birth didn't . You can read abut her condition here
Angel needs an operation ..without it her survival rate past 6 months is very slim, indeed the cardiologist said only 2 in 70 dogs live past 6 months (this is lower in large breeds) without surgery.
She also has the added complication of a lot of fluid in her lungs and around the heart chambers ..she has been put on frusemide (a diuretic) twice a day for now ..this will probably mean lots of weeing but at least it will help with her breathing
Angel is booked in for her operation on the 1st of may .....the nearer to 16 weeks she gets before having the surgery the more chance she has of doing permanent damage to her heart ...It cant be done sooner as the cardiologist needs that time to get a team together to perform the op . Angel will be kept in hospital for 2- 3 days ..depending on how she is ..the success rate of the op is very good ..he has only lost 2 dogs during the procedure in 10 years ..he has performed in excess of 100 ops . She will have a cardiology nurse with her around the clock to monitor her progress as post op can be a very tricky time .
Now comes the problem….
Angel’s initial visit to the specialist cost just under £400 for her sedation ..ecg and heart scan ..plus the consultation fee . Debbie has paid this bill out of her own pocket (not the rescue funds)
The operation depending on how much care she needs post op will mean a bill of between £1,500 - £3,000.... the rescue simply does not have the funds to pay for this operation.
This is a huge amount of money but the only way of giving Angel a decent chance at life is by having the operation and so the only way we can raise the funds to pay for this op is by asking dog lovers around the country to offer a donation – no matter how small – even a pound will help towards the bill.
If you can offer a donation then please make a paypal donation .
